The Presence of Yahweh// Acts 2:14–36

A Miktam of David.

1Preserve me, O God,

for in You I take refuge.

2I said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord;

apart from You I have no good thing.”

3As for the saints in the land,

they are the excellence

in whom all my delight resides.

4Sorrows will multiply

to those who chase other gods.

I will not pour out their libations of blood,

or speak their names with my lips.

  • PS 16:4[DEMONIC]Sorrows multiply for those who chase other gods

5Yahweh is my chosen portion and my cup;

You have made my lot secure.

6The lines of my boundary have fallen in pleasant places;

surely my inheritance is delightful.

7I will bless Yahweh who counsels me;

even at night my conscience instructs me.

8I have set Yahweh always before me.

Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

  • PS 16:8[PROPHECY]The Holy One sets Yahweh always before Him and will not be shaken → ACTS 2:25
  • PS 16:8[QUOTED]Quoted in the New Testament → ACTS 2:25-28
  • PS 16:8[MESSIAH SPEAKING]Red letters here mean the Messiah is speaking. Peter said David was a prophet who saw ahead and spoke about the resurrection of Christ, Acts 2:25 to 31, and Paul said the same, Acts 13:35. Many Jewish readers hear David speaking about himself.

9Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;

my body also will dwell securely.

  • PS 16:9[PROPHECY]He would rise from the dead → JN 20:9

10For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol,

nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.

  • PS 16:10[PROPHECY]His body would not see corruption (decay) in the tomb → ACTS 2:31; 13:35
  • PS 16:10[QUOTED]Quoted in the New Testament → ACTS 13:35
  • PS 16:10[NOTE]SHEOL is the place of the dead. David died and was buried, Peter said, and his tomb is still here, but Jesus' body did not rot, Acts 2:29 to 31.

11You have made known to me the path of life;

You will fill me with joy in Your presence,

with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.

What do the colors mean?

Each color marks one kind of verse: lime green for prophecies about the Messiah, teal for miracles, sand for archaeology, and so on. Tap any color in the chapter key to turn it off. Use Customize to choose exactly which ones you see.

Can I read without highlights?

Yes. Turn off the Highlights switch at the top for plain text. Your choice is remembered on this device.

Do the other translations have the colors too?

Yes. The colors, red letters, bloodline names and study notes come from TOM and are matched to every other translation verse by verse, so you can read the KJV, NIV or any other translation here with the same study helps.
