Yahweh Is My Shepherd// Ezekiel 34:11–24; John 10:1–21

A Psalm of David.

1Yahweh is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

  • PS 23:1[FORESHADOW]The Good Shepherd who lays down His life → JN 10:11; 1PE 2:25
  • PS 23:1[NOTE]SHEPHERD. David was a shepherd before he was a king, 1 Samuel 16:11. Jesus said, I am the good shepherd, John 10:11.

2He makes me lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside quiet waters.

3He restores my soul;

He guides me in the paths of righteousness

for the sake of His name.

4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

  • PS 23:4[NOTABLE]God does not promise there will be no valley. He promises to walk through it with you.
  • PS 23:4[NOTE]ROD AND STAFF. A shepherd's rod was a club to fight off wild animals; the staff was a long stick to guide the sheep.

5You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

  • PS 23:5[NOTE]ANOINT MY HEAD WITH OIL. A good host poured oil on an honored guest's head. Here God is the host, and the enemies have to watch.

6Surely goodness and mercy will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of Yahweh

forever.

What is TOM?

What do the colors mean?

Each color marks one kind of verse: lime green for prophecies about the Messiah, teal for miracles, sand for archaeology, and so on. Tap any color in the chapter key to turn it off. Use Customize to choose exactly which ones you see.

Can I read without highlights?

Yes. Turn off the Highlights switch at the top for plain text. Your choice is remembered on this device.

Do the other translations have the colors too?

Yes. The colors, red letters, bloodline names and study notes come from TOM and are matched to every other translation verse by verse, so you can read the KJV, NIV or any other translation here with the same study helps.

Is this free?

Yes. The whole Bible is free to read online. The printed Owner's Manual Study Bible is coming soon.
